One of my absolute favourite things to do — and I’m sure I’m not alone here — is to sit in a cosy café with a great book, a hot cup of tea (and let’s be honest, a sneaky slice of cake), and simply watch the world go by.

There’s something oddly comforting about it, isn’t there? The gentle clinking of cups, the hum of conversation, the smell of freshly brewed coffee (despite not being a coffee drinker myself, I do love that smell)… and, of course, a little people-watching. We all do it — quietly wondering who they are, what they do, and what their stories might be.

Living in the Sutherland Shire means I’m spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful spots. With the water never too far away, there’s always a café that can pull me in — especially if the cakes are creamy, visually appealing & calling my name.

On days when I have a bit of time after the gym, you’ll usually find me at 7th Heaven or Greenhouse. But when I really want to treat myself, there’s no place quite like Pan & Stone in Kirrawee — where I get to indulge in two of my favourite things: tea, cake, and plants (okay, that’s three). It’s also where we shot the photos for our Duo Collective Cases, so it holds a special place in my heart.

For a little sunshine and serenity, I love the café at Como Marina — those water views on a sunny day are just magic.

Outside the Shire, The Grounds of Alexandria (part café, part garden wonderland, part inspiration overload) and Bay Ten Espresso in Lavender Bay never disappoint. Both have that perfect mix of great atmosphere and “I could sit here all day” charm.

One thing that used to frustrate me, though, was constantly swapping between glasses — reading glasses for the menu and my ever-present novel, then sunnies for the glare (and to make my people-watching a little less obvious! 😄). Thankfully, those days are gone.

These days, my Duo Glasses Case takes away that frustration  two pairs, one case, no more rummaging or constantly swapping cases. Simplicity at its best.

There’s something so special about slowing down, soaking up the atmosphere, and letting yourself just be for a while no rush, no pressure, just you, your thoughts, and a little serenity.

I’d love to know are you a café person and a fellow people-watcher? And if you’re local, where’s your favourite Shire spot to escape to?
