The Busy Mum & Grandma

The Juggle Never Ends
When I semi-retired, I honestly thought life would be quieter — that I’d finally have time for all those things I’d been putting off while working full-time. You know, like travelling, spending leisurely days with the grandkids, or catching up with friends over tea and a (generous) slice of cake.
Turns out, semi-retirement has me busier than ever. I’ve somehow become one of those people whose calendar is colour-coded within an inch of its life — and every day looks like a to-do list.
Mind you, starting a business in my early 60s probably didn’t help. What began as a simple idea to solve the daily frustration of juggling multiple pairs of glasses turned into the Duo Glasses Case — a stylish little solution for those of us who no longer need to carry the kitchen sink around in our handbags, but still like to stay practical and a bit fabulous.
These days, I work part-time in my own business, part-time in my husband’s freight forwarding business, and squeezing in coffee catch-ups, appointments, and grandchildren activities wherever I can. It keeps my mind active, my body moving (cracks and groans included), and reminds me that just because we’re mums and grandmothers doesn’t mean we’ve slowed down — we’ve just levelled up, still with plenty to contribute & wisdom to impart.
And yet… full retirement does sound a little tempting.
Maybe in the next five years or so. 😉
